Day 39: Ashay’s gossip gets exposed – BBMzansi

News19 February 2026
Housemates win their wager.
Liema Ashay

The Bazozwa Boombox went off this evening, and it played a conversation in which Ashay was heard calling Liema lazy and making negative remarks, including saying that men do not marry lazy women. In the clip, Ashay was speaking with Mmeli and Ilano as they discussed Liema, with the trio openly criticising her while other housemates listened in.

The house fell silent as the recording played, leaving Ashay visibly shocked to hear the conversation broadcast to everyone. Reacting to the moment, Liema said, “Big Brother, thank you, I needed to know that.” She added that she was glad Big Brother had revealed that Ashay talks about others behind their backs. Liema also stated that she does not mind her own conversations being aired because she has nothing to hide.

During the pool party later in the day, Ashay approached Liema to explain himself. He admitted that they had discussed her being lazy but denied making certain comments she believed were said. Liema explained that what upset her most was that he had spoken to Mmeli about the matter, as she already has issues with him. She shared that she dislikes Mmeli because she feels he supports Thandeka’s behaviour.

Ashay insisted that he had previously told Liema directly that she was lazy, arguing that it was not gossip. Liema disagreed, saying he had never said that to her before. Ashay then apologised, and Liema revealed that she had been acting when she appeared extremely upset earlier, although she admitted the situation still bothered her. Ashay said he values their friendship too much to let the issue come between them. The two eventually resolved their differences and hugged it out.

Just before the drama unfolded, the housemates celebrated a major victory after winning this week’s wager. The group delivered a stellar performance of an 1980s-themed play centred on two young lovers from Soweto who met through music and overcame several challenges to stay together.

Ramona played the narrator and also played the shebeen owner in the storyline. Thandeka took on the role of a drunken mother, while Liema portrayed Culo, a shebeen singer. Trixie played her stressed mother, worried after Culo returned home late. King Wanda stepped into the role of a toxic father who mistreats Culo’s mother, while Bra B, also known as Bravo B took an impressive role of a feared community thug.

Didi was Culo’s friend, delivering news of a life-changing record deal. In a dramatic twist, Bra B abducted Culo in an attempt to profit from her talent, only for it to later be revealed that he was in fact her father. Ilano played the sangoma, while Ashay and The Don took on the roles of Bra B’s thugs.

After the performance, Big Brother praised the housemates for their effort and officially announced that they had won the wager.
