Mseleku, his four wives, his children, and the Duma family, all check. That is all that the head of the house, Mseleku, asked for when he was planning his thanksgiving ceremony, and it came to fruition.

The biggest and last wish however was for wife number five, MaKhwela, to be present and be introduced to the Duma family but this wasn’t an easy feat. It didn’t mean that Mseleku was going to surrender though.

The agenda kicked off on a rocky note when one of the Duma representatives, Vukile, touched a nerve by questioning Mseleku’s loyalty to his wives and their willingness to let the family meet his fifth wife. It left the wives irritated. They preferred if people didn’t mind their business.

Matters worsened when they got on their feet one by one to address the elephant in the room: everyone disapproved of of Vukile’s words, along with how meeting wife number five was omitted in the invite.

What was meant to be a meeting for the men outside in the yard turned into an introduction of MaKhwela on the low. Mseleku and the Duma men took to the gate in song to meet his new wife under the disguise of only going to talk among themselves.

MaKhwela was understandably disappointed. Showing up with members of her family, she was shocked when Musa and his supporters walked out of the Mzumbe homestead to meet her. Although she wasn’t allowed in, the Duma men were able to observe their culture by chanting and showering her with money.

It wasn’t the perfect introduction, but it will do for now.
