Mzansi Magic is proud to announce the return of two of its most compelling reality shows, Abandoned and Short & Sweet, both back for brand-new seasons this November.
Abandoned Season 4
Premieres Wednesday, 5 November at 20:00 With even more heart-wrenching reunions and emotional revelations, Abandoned returns for Season 4, continuing its mission to reconnect families torn apart by abandonment. Hosted by the empathetic Phumeza Shoba, the reality series follows the journeys of individuals seeking to reunite with parents who left them behind. With the help of private investigators, law enforcement authorities as well as government departments including Home Affairs and Social Services, the show uncovers the truth behind each story and offers both parties a chance to heal. Past seasons have delivered unforgettable moments of reconciliation and Season 4 promises even more emotional impact and powerful storytelling.
Short & Sweet Season 3
Premieres Thursday, 6 November at 20:00 Returning with bold narratives and unforgettable personalities, Short & Sweet Season 3 dives into the lives of six dynamic individuals navigating love, family and identity in a world that often overlooks them.
- Thandazani Kubheka, 31: His life has taken a dramatic turn, forcing him to re-evaluate his priorities and learn to respect his work the hard way. After believing polygamy was the key to happiness, Thandazani now realizes he's been searching for something he can't even name. Will he find his footing and redefine his path?
- Vuyokazi ‘Vovo’ Grace Nguqu (40), has always been the loudest in the room, the undisputed centre of attention, the one whose presence could fill a space before she even opened her mouth. But this season, it’s about Vovo finally facing the person behind the performance. Can she own her pain, make peace with her past, and become something more than the mask she wears?
- Zandile Cele (29) has realised that being a Sangoma is one thing, becoming a Gobela is another. This season, her journey is about elevation, not just in her spiritual calling, but in every corner of her life. To train others as Sangomas, she says she needs to completely transform which means cutting back on alcohol, checking her attitude, and stepping fully into the responsibility of leadership.
- Mongezi ‘ Mayoghurt’ Jama (24) is fighting on many fronts this season. Last season, the drama between his parents put him in the middle of a cultural conflict that he could never fully escape. There’s also a storm brewing in the Maskandi space, and his name’s right in the middle of it. A fellow artist claims that he is getting booked not for talent but for sympathy and he wants to face this beef head on and showcase that he is indeed talented. This season, we welcome new faces on the show:
- Tebogo Shayi (31) takes one thing really seriously: commitment to his woman, his family and the future he wants to build. He recently lost his job as a data capturer, and is now back on the grind, networking and doing all he can to get back on his feet. He has started paying lobola and his dream is to move out and build a home for his family.
- Dimakatso Mathekga (31) is a proud mother of two who has finally realised that some doors need to stay closed, specifically her relationship with the father of her children because the relationship is ‘toxic’. She is looking to find love and acceptance, closure by asking her previous lover questions that will enable her to finally be able to move on.
This season continues to prove that height is just a number and that resilience, love, and ambition know no bounds.
Short & Sweet remains a celebration of the human spirit, told through the lens of those who challenge societal norms every day. Tune in to Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) this November for stories that will move you, inspire you and keep you coming back for more.
